The Lost gardens of Heligan Pentewan, St Austell, PL26 6EN     T 01726 845100     W heligan.com     E info@heligan.com     Tearoom is open daily from 9.30am-5.30pm     Hummus sandwiches can be vegan but ask about the bread.  They also have vegan salads, vegan ice-cream and apricot/date slices or homemade carrot cake.  A lot of the produce is from the gardens and the hot meals change such as pumpkin & mushroom wellington with cider volute or curries and stews that are regularly vegan.  They also stock soya milk for drinks.

Rest and Play Cafe The Old Church Hall, Fore Street, Roche, PL26 8EP.     T 01726 893055     facebook.com/restandplaycafe?_rdr     A community cafe in an old chapel.  For vegans they have a lentil bolognese and a panini with veggie sausage, red onion chutney and tomato relish.  They can also do a vegan breakfast and if you tell them you’re vegan they can use vitalite spread.

Cornwall Services Victoria, Roche, St Austell, PL26 8UF.     (Previously Victoria services)  The veggie hotdog in “sausage & roll” is vegan as are the sweet potato fries which are really crispy.     Off the A30 victoria interchange, ten minute drive from Bodmin.

Eden Kitchen The Eden Project.     The cafeteria style eating area.  The minestrone soup with freshly baked bread, The vegetable hot pot with a mashed potato and baby spinach topping, maple roasted winter veg and coconut chocolate flapjack are vegan.

The Mediterranean Kitchen  The Eden Project.     The sit down more restaurant style seating area situated in the Med Biome.  The tomato pasta and breads with olive oil and balsamic are vegan and if you tell them you are vegan they can come up with options.

If it’s vegetarian it’s almost certainly vegan. From the starters the vegetable kebab, table olives and bread are vegan. From the mains the vegetable & chickpea casserole is vegan.

  1. For the Eden Project – there is a cafe in the Core called ‘Jo’s Cafe’ this is a wholefood cafe that recently went entirely vegetarian. could do with suggestions for their vegan sandwich range, but some of their mains and soups are vegan and pretty good.
