The apple turnover, flapjack, eccles cake and scones have recently been confirmed as vegan but its best to check not least because they may have other goodies.

The houmous, nut pate and spicy falafel salad boxes can all be vegan. You can also have houmous or nut pate rolls or sandwiches, soup or veg chilli.

Blas Burgerworks, The Warren, St Ives, TR26 2EA.     Tel: 01736 797272     www.blasburgerworks.co.uk   Tue-Sat 6pm-late, Sun 6pm–9.30pm, throughout the summer 12noon-9.30pm     3 vegan dishes @ 2 Burgers £10, sorbet £1.80 a scoop     LABELLED VEGAN.    Burger estaurant with an emphasis on green issues. There is a vegan sunflower burger. This is a tofu, ginger, coriander & chilli burger, served with tahini sauce, sweet roast peppers and fresh salad sprouts. They also have a vegan, passion fruit sorbet. They also have soya milk.      Opposite St Ives Arts Club, which is on the harbour front.

States on their website – vegans are well catered for, there are many vegan dishes included. The chefs are flexible if you don’t see what you want just ask. This was backed up by a recent vegan visitor who said the choice was great.    Opposite the library in the centre of St Ives.     Updated 08/16

Borea Barn Vegetarian B&B, Nancledra, Penzance, TR20 8AZ.     Tel: 01736 360559     W boreabarn.co.uk     A vegetarian b&b that have a good understanding of veganism and can easily cater for vegans.     Located in a small village called Nancledra exactly between St Ives and Penzance, just off the B3311.

Chapels Cafe  20 Chapel Street, St Ives, TR26 2LR.     They now offer a vegan sausage, mushroom, tomato & red onion sandwich option which a recent visitor described as delicious.  Updated 11/16.

Warrens Bakery  Tregenna Place, St Ives, TR26 1SB.     Tel: 01736 796809     2 Vegan dishes @ £3.25     LABELLED VEGAN     A chain pasty store that have recently added two pasties to their range.  The Vegan green Thai pasty and the fiery Mexican pasty, both come highly recommended.     Updated 03/17.

The Badger Inn, Fore Street, Lelant, St Ives, TR26 3JT.     Tel: 01736 752181     3+ vegan dishes @ £7-£10     The vegetarian carvery option offers vegetables prepared to order, although this offers little choice. The vegetarian sizzler is vegan as is the stir fry vegetable tagliatelli. If you mention your vegan on arrival they may be able to offer more options that are not on the menu. They have catered for vegans in the past.     On a sharp bend on the A3074 a couple of miles before St.Ives town centre.

Yellow Canary, 12 Fore Street, St Ives, TR26 1AB.     Tel: 01736 797118     7 days a week March – November. Summer 7am-10pm. Winter 9am-5pm Cafe that sells a vegetable pasty  and a sweet pasty that is suitable for vegans. They also do soya milk.

St Ives Bakery 1 Fore Street, StIves, TR26 1HE.     T 01736 798888     They do a wholemeal veg pasty that is vegan.

Porthminster Kitchen wharf road, St. Ives, TR26 1LG.    T 01736 799874.    W porthminster.kitchen.    E info@porthminster.kitchen.    A recent vegan customer described the food as superb.  Around half the appetisers, starters and mains are veggie or vegan or can be easily adapted to be so.    Along the waterfront.

They do a veggie breakfast every day that is easily adaptable to make vegan.    Five minutes walk from the centre of St Ives.

Hazelphron Herb Farm Shop, 62 Fore Street, St Ives, TR26 1HW.     Tel: 01736 791891     Mon-Sat 10am-5pm      £2.30 a bar or cheaper if you buy more.     They sell the following raw chocolate 60g pies; raw chocolate pie, festive raw chocolate pie, raw chocolate & chilli pie, raw chocolate goji pie.  They have other flavours and a few raw fudges.  The only non vegan one is the booster bar that contains bee pollen.      In the lanes in St Ives.

The Cornsih Deli, 3 Chapel Street, St Ives, TR26 2LR.     Tel: 01736 795100     3+ vegan dishes     Most soups are vegan, baguettes with possible fillings of: houmous, roasted pepper and balsamic syrup, fried mushroom, onion, tomato and simply salad. Mushroom and tomato-based brunch dishes can also be vegan. May even get ingredients in specially for you while you wait.

Porthmeor Cafe-Bar, St Ives, TR26 1LA.     Extensive opening times every day of the week     Chef will willingly adapt food to be made vegan and soya milk is available.     On the beachfront just in front of the Tate.

WARNING – Jus’ Desserts, Wharf Road, St Ives.     An ice-cream shop that has dairy free ice-cream listed. They say it is vegan apart from cross contamination but it actualy contains dried milk, whey and egg. They do however have some vegan sorbets.

    Porthminster Kitchen – in St Ives along the waterfront. Just had a meal there today, and the food was superb. Around half the appetisers, starters and mains are veggie (and either vegan as well or easily adaptable)
